Tyres, Brakes & Batteries

It's very important to keep on top of the routine small checks on your car. We can help with this by checking your tyres for condition & pressure, under bonnet levels & top-ups such as oil, coolant, screen wash etc. We don't charge for this!
We can test your battery and advise on its general condition. (they usually last around 4~5yrs these days with all the high load consumers on modern cars).
Don't worry, we'll only recommend a replacement part if it genuinely needs one … if not we'll try to advise on how long until it does.

Brake Fluid
It is recommended that brake fluid is replaced every 2-3 years because it absorbs water from the atmosphere, this lowers the boiling point of the fluid causing brake fade and possibly in extreme cases brake failure, it also leads to corrosion inside sensitive components like ABS units.

Coolant / Anti-freeze Replacement
If the coolant in your car is the old Blue or Green type it should be replaced every 2-3 years. If it's the newer Pink or Orange type, then it should be changed every 3-5 years.
Did you Know?
When coolant deteriorates with age it doesn't lose it's ability to prevent the engine from freezing in cold conditions. It needs replacing because it loses the corrosion protection that modern aluminium engines and components need.
If corrosion sets in it can cause problems like head gasket failure which are a very expensive job to repair on today's hi-tech engines.

Clutch
Strange noises when changing gear, difficulty engaging a gear when stationary or just a feeling something's not quite right. We'll gladly check it out for you and find out if any thing's wrong. If something needs replacing we'll be happy to give an estimate and can show you the parts afterwards.

Engine Diagnostics – Warning light (EML) Illuminated
Performance issues and warning lights on the dash can be worrying. Our diagnostic test will usually pin point the cause so we can offer advice on the next course of action.

Exhausts
Rattling exhaust? Emissions fail? Exhaust blowing?

Suspension & Steering
Vital to your car's handling and road holding – make sure your suspension and steering are in great shape.
We repair any make or model & can do 2 or 4 wheel laser alignment.

Air Conditioning
Don't get hot under the collar if you're air-con stops working. We can re-gas or repair your system to keep you cool. Tip: Air-con should be used at least once a week to keep the lubricant circulating around the system to prevent the rubber seals shrinking allowing the gas to escape.

Cam Belt / Timing Belt
A broken cam belt can and usually will destroy your engine which means it is one of the most important replaceable items to care for. The cost of a replacement can be fairly expensive these days with the complexity of modern engines but it is still a fraction of the cost of repairs should it fail.
This is why you should have it replaced at or before the manufactures recommended interval, this usually states a mileage or a time interval which ever is the soonest.
The interval is different for all cars but we can advise you if needed and give you an estimate of the cost.
Tip: Most cam belts also drive the water pump and run around guide pulleys, it's imperative to replace these at the same time.
